This Privacy Policy explains how Image Toolkit (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you visit image-toolkit-hb.web.app and use our image and PDF tools (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: the files you select are processed inside your browser and are not uploaded to us. We do not require an account. We use Google Firebase to host the site and may display advertising through Google AdSense, which uses cookies as described below.
1. Information we do not collect
Our tools run entirely in your web browser using technologies such as the File API, HTML5 Canvas and WebAssembly. When you select an image or PDF:
- the file is read directly from your device by your browser;
- the processing happens on your device;
- the result is saved back to your device.
We do not receive, store, view or share the contents of your files. We do not keep copies of your images, PDFs or the results you download. We also do not ask for your name, postal address or phone number in order to use the tools.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when a page is requested. This may include:
- your IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised by the provider);
- browser type, version and language;
- device type and operating system;
- the page or file requested and the date and time of the request;
- the referring page, if any.
This information is used for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and understanding overall traffic levels. It is not used to identify you personally and is not combined with the files you process.
We also keep a small tool-usage log in Google Cloud Firestore when a tool finishes or fails. It contains the tool name, file size in bytes, success/failure status, timestamp and IP address. It does not contain your file, its name, its contents or the result. These logs are used for reliability, abuse prevention and aggregate usage counts.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Image Toolkit itself does not require cookies for the tools to work. However, cookies may be set by:
- Our advertising partners (such as Google), to show and measure ads;
- Our hosting provider (Google Firebase), for security and network performance;
- Your browser’s local storage, used only to remember preferences such as your last compression target or favourite settings. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.
4. Advertising and Google AdSense
We may display advertisements to keep the Service free. When advertising is enabled, we use Google AdSense and may work with other third-party advertising vendors.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie and similar technologies for this purpose.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
We do not control the cookies set by third-party advertisers. Their use of information is governed by their own privacy policies. You can find more information in Google’s advertising policies.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for consent before using advertising cookies where required by law. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, which resets the consent banner shown on the site.
5. Analytics
We do not currently use Google Analytics or other behavioural analytics to track individual users. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent first. Aggregate, non-identifying information (such as the number of page views reported by our hosting provider) may be used to understand which tools are useful.
6. How we use information
The limited information described above is used to:
- provide, operate and secure the Service;
- diagnose technical problems and prevent abuse;
- understand overall usage so we can improve the tools;
- display and measure advertising that keeps the Service free;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share the files you process because we never receive them. Limited technical information may be shared with:
- Google Firebase, which hosts the website and processes standard server logs on our behalf;
- advertising partners, such as Google AdSense, as described above;
- authorities, when required by applicable law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
8. Data retention
We do not store your files or their contents at any time. Server logs held by our hosting provider are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes and are then deleted or aggregated. Tool-usage logs in Firestore are also retained for a limited period for reliability, abuse prevention and aggregate reporting, and are then deleted or aggregated. Cookie data is retained according to the settings of the relevant provider and your browser.
9. Data security
The Service is served over HTTPS, so data between your browser and the site is encrypted in transit. Because file processing happens locally, your files are not exposed to network transfer at all. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle.
10. International transfers
Our hosting and advertising providers are global companies and may process technical information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for international transfers.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, or to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold your files or an account for you, most requests will relate to logs or advertising cookies.
To exercise these rights, contact us at haldharbhaskar4@gmail.com. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings and opt out of personalised ads using the links in section 4.
If you are in India, you may also have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
12. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and the UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
13. Third-party links
The Service may contain links to other websites, including advertisers and reference pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our tools, advertising partners or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
15. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your information is handled, please email haldharbhaskar4@gmail.com or use our Contact Us page.
